Product Description Studio: Gaiam Americas Release Date: 02/12/2007
Amazon.com Power yoga "demands your attention," says instructor Rodney Yee. He leads a challenging, constantly progressing series of poses, one flowing into the next, integrating breath, movement, tension, and relaxation. The poses include Sun Salutation, standing poses, forward bends, back bends, twists, and arm balances. The first poses are fairly easy, and with each repetition of the series, Yee adds on more difficult movements, extending the series without pausing. You're encouraged to do as much of the series that fits your level, up to the entire 65-minute workout if you're an experienced yoga practitioner. Although you can begin at any level, some familiarity with yoga is recommended. The Hawaiian setting is gorgeous and inspiring. This is an excellent yoga workout that you can grow with, adding on more as you get stronger. --Joan Price

Picky about Yoga November 5, 2009 K. Thomson (Aspen, Colorado) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've tried dozens of yoga DVD's, and this one is by far my favorite. The only downside to this DVD is that the workout is 90 minutes long.
If you're on a time crunch, I recommend Rodney Yee's Power Yoga - Strength and Power Yoga - Flexibility. To me, these two workouts - each 25 minutes long - are basically a split of the 90-minute Power Yoga Total Body. The flow is a bit faster than that of the Total Body workout, so you don't hold the poses quite as long, but you'll still feel great afterward!
My typical routine is to alternate the two shorter workouts during the week, then Saturday or Sunday (or sometimes both, if I have time!) I do the Total Body version. Hope this helps for those who are on a time crunch, but still want some quality yoga!

I love yoga, but could he make it any more monotonous? It is a physical challenge, but mentally it gets old before 1/4 through it.
Just About Perfect September 17, 2009 A. Buttolph Yee's Total Body DVD gives a very balanced and well-thoughtout series of asanas. He take the time to warm you up, which seems to be different than some other yoga DVDs. After the warm-up, the practise becomes more intense, and you will find yourself sweating and possbily pausing the DVD to rest for a moment. The latter part of the DVD goes into a series of stretches, spinal extensions, and twists that feel truely wonderful. After this practise, my back always feels terrific, and it leaves me in a great mood. The 60-minute length is really good. Many of the 20-minute DVDs are just too short - by the time you get warmed up and flexible, they are over. This one gets you warmed up and makes use of that warmth to exercise your strength, stamina, flexibility, balance, and focus. Also, Rodney's pace in this Total Body DVD is good, he does not race through the asanas like he does in many of his shorter routines.
This DVD is not for someone who is just starting out in yoga. New beginners should learn the basic poses before using this DVD. Once basic poses have been learned, then I would say that this DVD is appropriate for anyone. There are some challenging poses that will take longer to learn than others, and if they are too difficult, then you can use a modification or substitute a different pose.
Best intermediate at-home workout September 10, 2009 Kay Pixie (Michigan) I love this dvd. I have tried for years to find a good, intermediate yoga flow to practice at home. This one is challenging and thorough. I highly recommend it.
Will need some experience first - great otherwise. September 10, 2009 Leigh 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've completed an introductory yoga course at a gym and so thought I'd give this one a go. I'm reasonably fit and was looking for something that would test me. I got that! This is reasonably fast paced and I think you need to know some basic yoga moves by name to be able to keep up. If you are comfortable with that, you'll really enjoy it. I can't get through the whole work out in one go, yet, but I wasn't looking for something that I'd be able to keep up with first go and get bored with. If you are at a novice or an intermediate level, you'll find yourself coming back to this one for a challange.
