Amazon.com Pilates Workout for Dummies is a 60-minute DVD, ideal for both the first-time and intermediate Pilates exerciser. In the Basic Workout, well-toned instructor Michelle Dozois clearly and patiently presents 18 classic Pilates mat exercises, first demonstrating and explaining, then doing 6 to 10 repetitions. She explains what the Powerhouse is and how to use it, and covers the basics you'll need if you've never done this before (or need to be reminded), offering alignment tips, breathing, and extremely clear instructions for executing each movement. Dozois suggests modifications for making the exercises easier (or, occasionally, more challenging), and includes cautions against common mistakes and reminder tips for doing each exercise effectively. This is a fine first workout for Pilates novices. The Intermediate Workout consists of some of the Basic exercises and several new ones, all done at a faster pace and with more challenging instructions. This is a workout you can progress with! --Joan Price

great! March 16, 2010 Music_pnd i was worried about trying a workout video but it was a lot better than i expected.
-the instructor isn't annoying! she's nice but not overly peppy/fake.
-the exercises are a great workout!
-i didn't get bored.
-great pace. although sometimes i hit pause.
i'm not in very good shape but i don't have any back problems or other health problems so this tape wasn't too hard for me. the video has great tips to make things easier though!
i swear she's psychic! as we started an exercise she'd say "make sure you're not sagging at the (whatever)" and i'd look at myself and realize i was in fact making that mistake. that's great they help you correct yourself otherwise i might hurt myself or not get a workout.
this dvd is cheap too!!
plus when you get really good you can try the advanced tips or watch the intermediate video with the faster pace and bigger ranges.
:)
easy to do March 8, 2010 D. Landon (BHC AZ) Needed an easy workout to take on the road , pilates for dummies is great.
Well paced and accurate January 23, 2010 A. Amacher (Switzerland) I especially like the pace of the intermediate section. There aren't long pauses between each exercise. Michelle's form and body is testament to her commitment and knowledge of Pilates.
Great for beginners January 20, 2010 Esther Lee (Sunnyvale, CA United States) I had done pilates before in classes and this covers most of that. About 30 minutes for the workout. I liked the advanced option too.
I must have done this wrong January 17, 2010 ang I wanted to buy this, but rented from the library to try it out first. I did the easier/beginners workout. I thought the pace was great. She tells you at the beginning she will do it first to show you, and then you do it together. Once in a while it had little side video of what not to do to break form. As I worked out I thought "man, I'm going to be sore tomorrow". A couple of the exercises I couldn't even do (like laying on your stomach and lifting your legs and shoulders off the ground). However, with as hard and effective as I thought this video was when I was doing it, I did NOT wake up sore the next day. At all. I should have which tells me I was doing all of the moves wrong somehow. Something was missing in the video. Something that would have helped me have an effective workout. I am puzzled.
