I love this book March 4, 2010 JM (Livingston County MI) What a great addition to my fitness library! Your body will be the best it can be by following this program. At first the exercises may seem confusing, but before long, you'll find yourself sailing through them. THis program provides two workouts that you alternate between on different days so that you aren't doing the same things all the time. This is much better for your body. I'm in my late 60's and don't think this program is only for the 20's and 30's. I'm not ready for a rocking chair yet, and this program is apt to keep me out of one. You won't regret buying this book!

Rachel Cosgrave's book is an excellent buy. The information in it is easy to understand and highly relevant in this era of information overload. With 10 simple nutrition rules and workout regimes that are easy to follow the plan is one of the best i have ever followed.I'm currently in week 6 of the plan. I have lost inches &feel great. The workouts push me to my limit. I love the challenge& feel great after each work out. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to get in shape & who is willing to work hard to achieve their goals.
From a male Personal Trainer February 14, 2010 James R. Freyensee (Rapid City, SD United States) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
As a male Personal Trainer with the majority of my clients' females, I found Rachel's book to be the best complete training book for women I've read so far, and I've read all that I could find. I have purchased this book many times and have given it to my new clients before I start them on a fitness schedule.
What I found so great about her book is, first of all, she's a woman. She had many of the problems women have such as image disorders, eating disorders, that "time of the month" problems, and disorders of the mind when thinking that running is the fastest way to lose bodyfat. She doesn't write for the "Cover Girl" models, but for everyday women that you'll see at the mall, stores, gyms, or PTA meetings. She is a Sports Nutritionist, (CISSN) that addresses the very important nutritional aspect of being fit.
I'm not saying that I understand every problem that a woman brings to me during a training session, but her 16 secrets in her "Fit Female Credos" address a lot of the problems that hold back a woman from mediocrity to success. They should be read frequently, and my male clients could learn a few things from that Credo!
I have a minor disagreement regarding her statements that women don't need isolation exercises that hit the arms or shoulders, and define those muscles more. In my experience, most of the women that I train, that have been successful in losing body fat into the low 20% range, there is a request for an isolation "arm" or "shoulder" workout. This is especially true when summer is approaching and sleeveless clothing is being worn. We use these workouts when my clients have been up most of the night with kids, or not feeling up to a strenuous workout. This is such a minor point that I still think her book is the best, and she sets a very good example of a successful fit female.
The Results Speak for Themselves! February 9, 2010 K. Overcashier 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was given this book for Christmas by a close friend who knew I was looking for a new fitness and nutrition program. I am overjoyed that after only a month I feel stronger, healthier, and have more energy than I've had in a long time. The number on the scale has dropped, which is fantastic, but it doesn't even compare to how great I feel - this even after taking a week off from working out because I was sick! Thank you Rachel for making a program that works and makes sense! For those who are saying that they wish they had a poster with the exercises - I don't mind carrying the book with me to the gym, and after a few weeks you have most of the exercise routines memorized anyway. Don't hesitate to try this program - I had tried every diet and exercise program out there - South Beach, Atkins, Weight Watchers - this is the one that will work for every woman who has the dedication to stick with it.
Are you kidding? January 27, 2010 Sam Stan (Edmonton, AB CAN) 5 out of 9 found this review helpful
This book is definitely not for the beginner weight lifter. It seems very complicated to me.There are so many exercises and charts and pictures. You would have to study for your workout each time you went. Unless you are familiar with these kind of exercises it would be helpful to have a poster with what you need to do for each workout. It does have wonderful information and I believe that it would work it's just getting around all the abundance of information that is presented. It would be nice if there was alternative exercises to able to do it at home but I guess she owns a gym, right?
